Are families with small children being properly educated about the risks of Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs?

i have heard of them containing trace amounts of mercury...but not to the point where they tell you not even to run a vacuum cleaner over the area, or cut out the carpet.. I'm going to look into this a bit further. thanks for the information!
