Why are there two versions of elves?
In JJR Tolkien's LOTR elves are described as having the same size as humans, warlike and has no power. While in fairytales elves as depicted as small beings, playful and have magical powers. Why is it so? Also, was there any counterpart of elves in Greek or Roman mythology?
