Would Patton have captured Berlin before the Russians if he had been allowed to?

Nope. It would have been pointless even if he could since he would have had to pull back after taking the city. Berlin was deep in the zone which had been igned to Soviet control. All we would have accomplished was the deaths of tens of thousands of American's for no gain.
